"Once
again, we will probably have the smallest lineup in 3A, and maybe
the state," Coach Ryan Baumeister of the Worland Warriors says
of this year's squad. The Warriors' tallest player is senior Michael
Donahue at 6'2". A lack of height doesn't keep him and his players
from having high hopes for the season, though. "We look to be
improved in our team's quickness and depth," confirms Baumeister.
With six returning letter-winners, including seniors Caleb Bertsch,
Colton Cowdrey, Michael Donahue; juniors Brad French, Zack Hunter
and Coleton Willard, this team could indeed have a fair amount of
talent to draw on for those tough opponents.
Coach Baumeister has
been keeping up with players and teams around the state. "From
the East, Chris Posinski [from Buffalo] looks to be the dominant all-around player," he
says. "From the West, Kyle Bullinger [of Mountain View] may be the best
player in the state. Andy McKen from Star Valley, and Trevor Ragan [from Lander]
will both be outstanding players on their squads." As for teams to watch
this season, "Buffalo and Douglas are the dominant teams from the East," Baumeister
says, "From the West, Lander and Star Valley will be contenders." Besides
these two tough teams, Coach Baumeister also predicts good seasons for Mountain
View, Kemmerer, and Powell: "Mountain view will be tough yet again; and
Kemmerer and Powell will be much improved with the valuable experience they gained
from last year."
This is Ryan Baumeister's second year as head coach
at Worland. The Warriors
finished off last year with at 10-12 record. |
