It could almost be said that the Dubois Rams are starting from scratch this year. They have a new head coach, Scott Thomas, and they only have one returning starter, senior Joe Slawiak, and to tope it all off, the Rams are in a new conference this year. Wow, how many firsts can one team face in one season?

Coach Thomas (who is stepping up from the assistant coach position) is excited about the fresh start. Although the team said farewell to six graduating players last spring, look for the Rams to be "a young, determined team." There is a high standard to live up to in Dubois, after all. The Rams won the 2A Regional West Tournament and went to state last year.

Though they are facing the 1A conference this season, and some tough competition, the squad is excited about the change. "There is some tough competition in our region," Coach Thomas admits, " but he is quick to add, "we look forward to playing." The change in conference will also provide some good high school preps basketball for all you fans. The Rams will be facing teams they have either never met on the court or haven't played for a few years. "The only team we have played in the last two years," says Coach Thomas, "is St. Stephens, who beat us and is the two-time state champs."

In the race for that state championship, Thomas is looking forward to meeting with tough competitors such as Burlington, Cokeville, and St. Stephens.
There is nothing quite like a good challenge to make a young team rise to the occasion.
